I got into making Biodiesel in 2005 when fuel prices were soaring, and I had recently taken great interest in alternative energy sources of all types. I had been playing with solar, considering things like waste oil heaters, wind energy, etc, when I discovered Biodiesel. I then set out to learn all I could about Biodiesel, and built my own processor and began making homemade Biodiesel a few months after that. And because my personal vehicle is newer, and would be very costly to damage, I was very intent on learning all I could to make the highest quality fuel I could. Since then I have successfully used our homemade Biodiesel in my 2003 GMC Duramax and my family's 2002 & 2005 Duramax engines with great results.

Since then I've spent many months & 100s of hours reading and studying information from many sources out there to put this book together. I've bought a lot of the books out there and was frustrated at the lack of accurate, safe information in them. I refuse to read several of them anymore due to the very dangerous & inaccurate methods they present. Plus even if they had good information, it was hard to find. There was no order to the information, or a lack of a good table of contents, definitions guide, etc. And they always left me with a lot of questions. So I decided to write my own book to bring all the best information together in one place, in an organized, easy to understand format. I knew I could help others learn to make Biodiesel at home without the frustration that can come with trying to learn it all yourself from the many different sources out there.

I originally had the idea to write this book as a way to put all the information I was learning about Biodiesel in one place, in an organized format. Before that I was constantly trying to re-find an article I had read previously, but had forgotten. And it was wasting A LOT of my time. Then I decided that with some further information this book could help many others learn about the evolving world of small scale, Homemade Biodiesel. This book is not meant to be a theoretical, definitive scientific analysis book. Instead, it's meant to be a guide to help you learn the basics about Biodiesel and making Biodiesel at home along with some advanced techniques and theories.

Plus with this book you'll find a lot of information you won't find anywhere else. Information such as important tips and tricks, lists of items needed for Titration, Mini batches, oil collection etc. Much of it is information we have learned in the process of making Biodiesel ourselves, building processors, and in studying the vast amount of public information available. There is a lot of outdated or inaccurate information out there, so you'll save a lot of time by using this book.

Without a thorough book like this, you could easily spend several hundred hours studying Biodiesel to understand it fully before you begin. Some of the best information is out there on the Internet, but it's scattered all over the place and takes a LOT of time to find. Then you have to decide what information is accurate, and current which can waste even more time.

This book will also give you some ideas on how to stay up with current procedures and information such as websites to visit and books to read. But the information in here will fully explain, in layman's terms, how to make quality Biodiesel at home.

The methods for making Biodiesel at home are constantly evolving, with new methods, tips & tricks being discovered all the time. The reason for this is that the popularity of making Biodiesel at home has just recently gained a huge interest due to rising fuel prices, the continual ongoing wars over oil, and the realization that our oil supplies are quickly dwindling. Plus people get great satisfaction in making their Own Homemade Biodiesel and in saving a huge amount of money at the same time.

And because homemade Biodiesel is such a new area, and there's so many people out there refining the procedures, there's new information appearing all the time. But the basic process has been solidly established, and that is what we will provide here.
