If you just
want to know in a nutshell, what EZBiodesel
processors the Premium biodiesel processor
Here are the quick, key points-
-
Includes a waste oil filtration
setup to allow you to pre-filter your incoming used oil
-
Includes an oil heater, most
others offer it as an option
-
Includes an infrared, point and
shoot temperature measuring device to monitor oil and biodiesel
temperatures
-
Comes with a sampling port for
ease of titrations and viewing samples of wash water, biodiesel,
etc
-
Insulated Tanks and Lines.
We're currently the only manufacturers offering this important
design feature
-
Properly vented tanks. Many
don't offer a way to vent methanol fumes outdoors, which is very
unsafe
-
We use Heavy Duty, Commercial
grade black iron fittings, NOT PVC, on the biodiesel
processing lines
-
Brass Ball valves, NOT PVC as
these are very poor at holding up to the extreme environment of
biodiesel making
-
Extra heavy wall, reinforced, see
through hoses. Most use store bought hose, which is much
thinner, and less durable
-
Labeled Valves for ease of
operation
-
Included mist AND bubble washing.
Most offer these as an option, or include only mist washing.
We include both
-
Proprietary Catalyst mixing
system. Uses a safe, air driven pump with a catalyst
suspension system which will completely mix the catalyst in
under 5 minutes.
-
Check valve on methoxide tank?
Without it, you can end up with a BIG MESS.
-
Way to properly DRY your fuel.
Without this, you'll be forced to dry by settling, which takes
about a week. Ours takes 5-6 hours
-
Other points- includes a titration
video, Nationally published biodiesel book, titration
calculator, laminated shop reference sheets, operators manual
(in color), mini batch kit, leather gloves, and many more small
items, which you need to make premium, high quality fuel
-
1 year warranty on parts and labor

Why Buy a Processor from us instead of building your own?
Good
question. Yes, most mechanically minded people can figure out how to
build a biodiesel processor, given long enough, and it will likely make biodiesel.
But
there's a BIG difference between a well designed processor that makes high
quality fuel, and just a processor. MOST homemade processors start
out with a poor design due to the builders lack of knowledge in correct design
principles. And just because a processor makes fuel, DOESN'T mean it's
good, high quality fuel. It can easily be full of free & total glycerin,
soap, water, catalyst, methanol, mono-glycerides etc, BUT, it can look perfectly
fine, even clear, while still containing many contaminants.

ASTM D6584 Lab Tests for Summit
Enterprises LLC & EZBiodiesel
Click
HERE
to see a certified ASTM lab test for Free & Total Glycerin done by
Fuel Only Laboratories on our fuel. The fuel was B100 made
from used vegetable oil that titrated at about 2. We ran a
single stage Transesterification process and our fuel tested WELL
BELOW the allowable ASTM limit for Free & Total Glycerin, the
first time we ever tested it. Free & Total glycerin is
the most likely to fail with poor design, or taking shortcuts & we
passed easily.
This would not be
possible if you take shortcuts, or with a processor that was not
designed properly. |
And
while a diesel will likely run quite awhile on low grade fuel, it will get you one
day, costing a lot of money to repair. Our design is the result of Thousands of
hours of research & testing. We have modified our design dozens of times
to further simplify the process and improve the fuel quality. We've done
the work for you. Why take chances?
And that's not to
mention the 20 or 30 trips to the hardware store, hundreds of hours of research,
wasted time building and re-building your processor, and still not knowing if
you have it right. Your time is worth something. Stop and figure out
if it's worth it to spend hundreds of hours trying to figure all this out on
your own vs buying a complete, ready to run processor that you know will work.
We can't count how many times others have called us with their horror stories
about their own homemade processors. Glop, tons of Soap, Emulsions, no
reaction, fouled injectors, and many more problems that can arise if you don't
get it right.
We've been
building processors for over 16 months now, with MANY processors sold, and
have not had one person complain of engine problems. You won't find those
results on the homemade biodiesel processor forums or boards. You will
find one person after the next asking what went wrong with their homemade
processor. Do you really want to risk it?

just on price alone, look at the difference in our processors.
Click on the photo below and ask yourself, which fuel would you want to
run in your vehicle? Hint: our processor makes the fuel on the
right, many others leave you with the fuel in the middle or the one on
the left. Then compare what comes with our processors & you'll see
ours are actually very fairly priced.

If you look around these days you'll find
several biodiesel processors for sale. But look closely before you
buy & you'll find that many are
dangerous and/or poorly designed, often without key
components in their design that are necessary to make High Quality Biodiesel.
Or they are incomplete, leaving you to buy many items on your own.
And the sad thing is YES, they probably will make
biodiesel. But there is a big difference between high quality
biodiesel and just biodiesel. But just looking at
their pictures wont tell you whether their equipment makes high quality
biodiesel or not. And of course they don't mention the things they
leave out. But we're here to help you understand what it honestly
takes to make high quality biodiesel. Our lists below will help
you understand what is important in the process.
And, remember, many builders
operate out of their
garage, or do this part time, which could leave you without any customer
support. We are a dedicated Biodiesel Manufacturing company.
This is not a sideline or hobby for us. So we spend Hundreds of
hours every month just researching, testing, studying & learning all we
can about biodiesel. Do they?
The result of purchasing
many processors out there would be Frustration, Wasted time, & Low Quality
Biodiesel output. Many even suggest you can run biodiesel without
washing or drying your fuel. But it's a fact that UN-washed &
dried Biodiesel WILL NOT even come close to passing ASTM standards, meaning it is of low
quality & generally full of free glycerin which can cause coking &
fouling of your engine. Or, they say things like they can dry
the fuel by simply running it through a 'Water Block Filter', which is
totally untrue as the filters would clog up with water constantly.
Plus filters are generally rated nominally meaning they don't stop
everything from getting through. And do you really want water in
your fuel?
|
ASTM Test comparisons of
heated & washed vs Non heated & non Washed fuel
The test pages below were presented at a biodiesel
conference we attended last year. The speaker runs a
commercial biodiesel production plant & does all their in
house testing using a Gas Chromatograph, (the only approved
ASTM testing method). He has tested numerous samples
of homebrew biodiesel and shows here what can go wrong.

Here's a test done on fuel produced commercially from used
cooking oil. This is very high quality fuel. |
This test shows homemade biodiesel that was made with heat,
but was left unwashed as they
were told was it was ok to do that. |
This test shows another homemade batch
made with NO heat and NO washing.
Notice how much glycerin is left behind. |
And
finally, this test shows how water washing removes
most of the glycerin left over.
But it also removes residual methanol & catalyst which are
very hard on your fuel system. |

Our design is complete, and
utilizes all the important principles REQUIRED to make high quality
Biodiesel that is safe to use in your vehicle.
We build our processors using higher
quality components such as hoses that are MUCH stronger & thicker than
the competition, No PVC on the pressurized processor pumping lines
themselves (they may get brittle & weaken from the biodiesel & methoxide
mixture), and we use black iron fittings, a stronger pump, stainless
steel misters & MUCH more. Yes, it costs a little more to build
them this way, but the result is high quality fuel, and no problems down
the line for you. We feel it's worth it.
If your planning on building your own
processor, consider this. It takes the average person between
100-150 hours to design their 1st processor right, including searching the internet for
weeks for information, chasing down all the parts, then re-designing it
several times when they realize the errors in their design, etc.
It is VERY time consuming, along with frustrating, and you risk
designing it improperly, resulting in low quality fuel & eventual
damage to your engine. And NO,
you can't tell quality fuel just by looking. There can be damaging
un-reacted Mono or Diglycerides in your fuel that you can't see.
And there are no simple, at home tests you can do to check the quality
of your fuel. And we've heard many stories about homebuilt
biodiesel processors which ended up damaging someone's engine. BUT, if you use all the proven design principles of
making biodiesel, you can make high quality fuel at home. Our
processors do that for you.
|
Here's some of the advantage of our design-
-
100% total
drain tanks, leaving no glycerin behind to contaminate the biodiesel
-
Factory built tank stands? (some build their
own stands. Are they certified welders?)
-
A method to
Filter the oil before processing (besides the obvious, filtering
removes watery breading chunks)
-
A
method to dewater the oil before processing (water in the oil
makes soap, which is bad)
-
A way to heat the
oil to the proper temperature (which is necessary for a complete reaction)
-
Infrared oil temperature monitoring
-
Insulated Tanks & lines on the processor to retain the heat (pretty much
no one else does this)
-
Uses extra heavy wall, see through hoses
instead of cheaper big box hoses?
-
Proper, timed, agitation time
(you need to vary the time according to the oil temperature)
-
Pump with a proper flow rate to keep the chemicals thoroughly mixed, resulting in
well reacted fuel
-
Pumps
mounted properly resulting in easier priming (pumps
mounted vertically are very difficult to prime)
-
ACCURATE scales which results in accurate titration
testing which leads to a complete reaction rates
-
Safely Venting
the methanol vapors outdoors, away from the workspace. All our tanks
have this
-
Proper catalyst & Methanol mixing methods
without leaving clumps behind,
or using dangerous mixing methods
-
Proprietary catalyst suspension mixing system
to ensure clump free, complete catalyst mixing
-
Check valve on methoxide tank? Without it,
you can end up with a BIG MESS. Call us and ask us what we mean. We know a
lot more tricks like this, some of which we wont list on here.
-
Maintenance free
mist washing system ours uses 1 industrial duty mister which never clogs,
but works very well
-
Complete
bubble washing system
-
A
method to dry the biodiesel after washing (filters won't
remove all the water)
-
Brass Ball Valves with NO Use
of pvc ball valves, (a very bad idea as they break easily, seize up and just
don't hold up well to the methoxide/biodiesel mixture)
-
Labeled Valves- no
guessing which valve is which
-
Thorough operating
instructions (we give you a 25 page book)
-
Includes Titration video
-
Complete Mini batch and testing kit included
-
Includes Laminated quick reference guide for
shop use? (1 side for titrations, the other for processing steps)
-
Includes Laminated Catalyst reference chart
-
Includes a Titration calculator spreadsheet
-
Complete educational
materials. Lets face it. You're new to biodiesel.
And if you buy a processor without understanding what biodiesel is,
and what's important to make it, you will likely end up making some
poor quality fuel. IT DOES TAKE SOME LEARNING. But with
the proper education, it's not that hard to learn. We educate
you with this website, and our customer only website (www.myezbiodiesel.com)
our User guide & our 95 page book, 'Biodiesel, What it is and how to
make it', which by the way, a publishing company has found and wants
to publish our book because it's so well written and explains things
in a simple manner. AND, we will always be glad to help you
via email, or phone.

Other points to consider -
1 - Others may mention a
short time to make their fuel to impress you. What this means is they can make a batch,
(unwashed) in that time, but it takes another day to complete the
washing, so don't be confused. But they may not have you wash the
fuel, so be careful there also as Unwashed biodiesel will NEVER be high
quality fuel and will NEVER pass an ASTM test. AND, if they wash
it, they have to dry it or you WILL have residual water in your fuel.
We DON'T TAKE SHORTCUTS, so our timeframes are realistic, and truthful. So if you want clean, dried fuel, it takes about 2
- 2 1/2
days to completely wash & dry the fuel for optimal quality.
2 - We include
a thermostatically controlled heating element that you hook up to a 55
gallon barrel with ALL systems. This is because heat is
VERY important to the reaction process. You can make biodiesel
without heat, but you risk making low quality fuel which could damage
your vehicle. (requires some wiring skills, or an electrician, but
it is important) We also offer a band heater for now wiring hookups.
3 - Although we include a water block fuel filter
with our processors, we DON'T rely on this to remove all the water from
the washing process. First of all there is to much for a filter to
handle without clogging all the time. Secondly, filters are mostly
rated at 'Nominal' ratings, which basically means that they DON'T stop
all the materials they're designed to filter from passing through.
HERE)
Some still gets through. So we give you a method to dry your fuel,
using very little electricity, in about 2 hours. See our pictures
below for examples of what it looks like with moisture in it, and
without. Then decide which makes more sense to you. (click
for larger views). YES, it looks nifty to put a nozzle right on the
processor, BUT, if you are doing that, you probably are relying on a filter to
dry the fuel, and it is a BAD IDEA. We offer a filling station to use
AFTER you have properly dried your fuel.

Samples of washed and unwashed
Washed but not dried, (in the drying tank)
Dry biodiesel. Cloudiness is gone
We include a bubble washing system because it is a
better method of washing your biodiesel, 'AFTER' you have done 1
mistwashing with the included mist washing system.
If you don’t clean and dry biodiesel what can
happen?
- Corrosion of fuel injectors (water, catalyst)
- Elastomeric seal failures (methanol)
- Fuel injector blockages (glycerine, soaps etc)
- Increased degradation of engine oil
- Pump seizures due to high viscosity at low
temperatures
- Corrosion of fuel tanks (excess water, catalyst)
- Bacterial growths and clogging of fuel lines/filters
If they only include one scale, it should be
accurate to .1gm, and handle amounts up to 1000gms. If it doesn't It's
not accurate enough. That's why we include 2
scales. One is for measuring your 1gm of lye for the reference
solution, and the other is to measure the several hundred grams for
larger batches.
Ready to Run
You can set these processors up and be ready to
